Might is right?

On the mainland, Mr. Z found that the milk he fed his baby was tainted by harmful substances.  So he complained and protested, and tried to fight for justice for himself and his fellow suffers.  He was never violent.  Yet he was put into prison for a long period because of this.  Outrageous! Abuse of justice! - we all say.

In Hong Kong, priest L complained, at a seemingly light-hearted moment at Halloween, that an extremely rich Mr. L was like the devil because he built apartments with inflated floor areas.  The words priest L chose was perhaps a bit harsh, but no more than many people were saying privately.  However, Mr. L was quite upset.  The church was then pressured into saying they were sorry.

The mainland case is, of course, much more serious than the Hong Kong case.  But the messages behind the two cases are the same: Don’t criticize us the powerful.  If we don’t like what you are saying, we can hurt you.  So, don’t!

Mr. Z case, mainland government thinks social harmony is most important. No matter "Sichuan dou fu zha" or "du nai fen". If more people complain, then something similar "64 event" may happen again. Mr. rich L almost controls everything in HK. Money is not important for him. What he concerns is his face rather than the fact.

I agree with the above post, except for one thing. Money, face, and power are all important to Mr. L, and the fact is, he controls HK, and even wants to control the people's minds and hearts.

It is ironic that the more he tries to suppress, the more the story stays in the public mind. He can make money and accumulate power. But face has to be earned.

Sad that in HK many people think that money is almighty and the rich think they are almighty!

Yeah. It used to be that people treasure a sense of honour. But now there is nothing but money.

Why do many HK people think money is almighty? But not in Africa? Some forces are trying to create an atmosphere that if some people are living in poor condition, it is because they're not smart/work hard enough and classify them as lower level. If people don't want to classify as lower level, then they have to work more hard for serving those who are rich. So poor that many people are working over 12 hours per day in HK.

Some people blessed with wealth imagine that they earned their wealth, that they could use the money as they please.

Little do they know that it could be a test that they are failing. When God entrusts a person with a blessing, He expects the person to use it for a good cause, not for self-aggrandizement.
